Though You Know Not My Name

Though the leaves soon fall away,
Departing from skies blue to grey,
Oh peaceful one, sleepy one, dreamy one, hopeful one,
Rest a while on shores of summer's day.

Dreamy one dream, dream a little while,
The colours of the fields will sustain you one more mile.
Hopeful one hope, even if it is to borrow,
For hear the birds are singing,
New life comes on the moro.

See there the sun-kissed roses,
That bloom amongst the forest,
Beyond the hills with misty eyes,
See the birds fly,
Oh see the birds fly.

Close your eyes and hear the memory,
Of a tune from long ago;
Close your hand upon my hand again,
The sea sings a fond hello.

Will you let me hold you gently?
Will you let me be beside you when you ache?
Will you let me brush my fingers upon your cheek and see you smile in their wake?
Will you let me show you softly how to walk the ragged shore?
Will you let me take your hand in mine,
Lead you to the open door?

Can you trust this hand that leads you?
Can you trust I know your name?
Can you trust that though you know not mine,
I'll ne'er forget you all the same?
